Bonnier News and NTM score Swedish Super League (SSL) audio-visual rights
Bonnier News and NTM have jointly acquired all audio-visual rights to the Swedish Floorball League – SSL Men and SSL Women for five seasons, 2020/21 to 2024/25.
The rights were offered on the market in February by SSL advisor Spring Media in an invitation to tender. All 400+ matches will be carried by Bonnier News’ national newspaper brand Expressen on its newly launched OTT channel, Expressen Play. Matches will also be simulcast by local media companies within the Bonnier and NTM umbrellas, targeting the regional interest and popularity of the SSL clubs.
Floorball is one of the most popular sports nationally, and the league has a large and young fanbase. “We’re honored to be livestreaming and working with a league that is world-leading within its category. It’s a dream come true!” says Mattias Wallström, Head of Live Sports at Bonnier News.
Spring Media was appointed to represent the SSL in these negotiations, and the sports media agency has a proven record of partnering with the NTM and Bonnier brands – among those the acquisition of the Bandy World Cup and the Elitettan women’s football league. The five-year agreement now concluded is the biggest investment yet signed by the SSL.
“With this agreement the SSL will get a long-term partner with great reach both locally as well as nationally. We’re pleased to be continuing the work with all parties involved to develop the SSL brand to new heights,” says Hans Svelander, Partner at Spring Media.
